How to use the SERP Snippet Preview
- Enter your page title, URL and meta description.
- Watch the preview and the length bars.
- Shorten text that goes past the recommended limits.
Google usually shows about 50–60 characters of a title and 150–160 characters of a description before cutting them. The exact cut-off depends on pixel width, so treat these numbers as guides.
Put the main keyword near the start of the title and write a description that tells searchers what they will get. Google may rewrite snippets, but clear, accurate text is used more often.
Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal title length?
Aim for 50–60 characters so the title is unlikely to be cut off.
Will Google always use my description?
No. Google can generate its own snippet from page content when it matches the search better.
